Let me start off by wishing you the warmest, loveliest Thanksgiving ever. I personally have so much to be grateful for this year š — my baby bump is growing and our hearts are filled with joy. I am healthy and love my life and what I do. What could be better than that?
For many of you, this is going to be your first plant-based Thanksgiving, and you might be wondering if there is anything you will be able to eat tomorrow. So, I wanted to take a few minutes to share a few ideas with you–I will be making some of the dishes myself tomorrow.
Vegan Thanksgiving Menu {Recipes}
Drinks
- Herbal Teas
Salads/Appetizers
- Any good green salad š
- Foonchyoza [Asian noodle salad]
Main Course
- Vegan Mashed potatoes [you can mash potatoes with vegan sour cream, cream cheese and almond milk]
- Vegan mushroom gravy [saute finely chopped mushrooms and onions with seasoning, add almond milk and vegan cream cheese–when it melts and warms up, add a spoonful of flour or potato starch to thicken, salt to taste–YUM!]
- Vegan stuffing–you can find some at a local Whole Foods–make it with celery and dried cranberries or raisins
- Green beans–instead of baking your beans until they lose all nutrition, considering lightly sauteing them with water, or minimal amount of oil, and onions+seasoning
- Fresh cranberry sauce–in a food processor or a blender, chop fresh cranberries with a sweetener of your choice: brown rice syrup, maple syrup, or honey [non-vegan], add a bit of lemon or orange zest for extra flavor–you are set!
I would strongly advise against all meat mimicking foods–if we quit eating the “real” stuff that was so bad for us, why would we try so hard to replace it? Ā Just leave it and enjoy the real and good plant foods!
Dessert
- Apple Pie
- Yams–bake or boil yams, and mash with a tiny hit of brown rice, maple or date syrup andĀ cinnamonĀ and enjoy
- Banana ice cream [you can also makeĀ PopsiclesĀ of the same thing!] served up with someĀ MacadamiaĀ nuts and melted vegan chocolate over it
Is your mouth salivating yet? Ā I sure hope so! Ā See, there is too much plant-based goodness to enjoy to miss its harmful animal-basedĀ counterparts.
Have a fantastic and grateful Thanksgiving! I am personally thankful for all of my readers, and for all of you who are taking steps toward better health and becoming your own health and wellness advocates.
